Why was the 2020 season ultimately canceled?
a. This was a difficult decision and not one the Board of Directors took lightly, we held off not making this decision as long as we could. As many of you are aware, our permits to use the facility are with the LA City Department of Recreation and Parks. When we suspended play back on March 12, we had no idea we would have to make the difficult decision to cancel our spring season 4 months later. On June 25, LA City Rec and Parks gave us their latest COVID update which is that all outdoor activities are still suspended until further notice. While we were hoping youth baseball was going to be part of our state's and city's phase 3 of reopening, it was becoming clear that as the days went on, this wasn't going to be the case, and our field permits were not going to be reinstated in time to continue and finish off the season.
Will there be refunds or credits towards future seasons?
a. As mentioned in our previous communications, our costs for spring (and fall) are all front-loaded. Meaning, that by the time the season has begun we’ve paid for uniforms, field permits, equipment, insurance, etc. In addition, field maintenance is a year-round task, and simply because we are not playing does not mean it stops. We reduced our maintenance crew and their hours right when the shutdown occurred but we still have to do the bare minimum to keep the fields in playable condition. We are providing a $50.00 credit per player towards a Spring 2021 Registration. We will also provide a $25.00 food credit to be used at the Snack Shack during the 2021 Spring season. You may also decline the credits to receive a tax donation letter for $75.00. We are a NON PROFIT organization and your donations are greatly appreciated.
Will there be a 2020 Fall Ball Season?
a. We certainly hope so. If/when LA City Rec and Parks gives us the green light to return to the fields, we will quickly communicate the plan to you. It might be a shorter season. It might be a season that starts later and ends later. We simply don't know at this time. Please know we have already taken many steps towards making the facility compliant with local and government health protocols, as our number one priority is keeping you and your players as safe as possible when we return.
Will my snack shack checks be returned?
a. All remaining snack shack checks will be shredded.
When will I get my pictures?
a. Most families came and got them on our first pick up day several weeks ago. We will schedule another one very soon so the remaining families can get theirs.
Will there be a 2020 yearbook?
a. No, the league elected to forgo this expense in an effort to preserve funds. This will be the first time in 50 seasons that we have not produced a yearbook for our membership.
Will Trotters, Shetland and Pinto players receive their participation awards?
a. No, the league elected to forgo this expense in an effort to preserve funds.
